The Jamaica School of Preaching & Biblical Studies (JSP) is a tuition free, non-profit, Bible-based educational institution sponsored by, and affiliated with the Church of Christ with the aim to prepare not only preachers, but all Christians, for more effective and fruitful service in the Lord’s church.

Oversight

The JSP is operating under the oversight of the elders of the Brooks Avenue Church of Christ.  Gladwyn Kiddoe is our Director and Francis Yorke , his deputy.

Brief History

The JSP was started in May 1970 with Guy V. Caskey as the first Director. Brother Caskey was formerly a missionary to South, Central and East Africa.

A four- year Diploma course was offered to a group of twenty-six (26) students who were the first ones to enroll in the programme. At the time, all the teachers were American Christians. The objective of the then administration was that eventually the JSP would be fully operated by a staff of qualified Caribbean Christians. That objective has now been fully realized. Past Directors of the JSP after Brother Caskey were John Featherstone, Jim Massey and Carl Maples. Gladwyn Kiddoe has been the JSP Director and Francis Yorke the Deputy Director since September 1979.

Our curriculum is based on the belief that the Bible, particularly the New Testament, is the ultimate authority or standard in religion for man to follow today. The Bible then is the main textbook that is used in teaching at the JSP.

The school also offers online and streamed courses designed for those students who cannot attend a local campus.
